Milan was traditionally home to many medium-sized factories located on the periphery. When the city increased in size, these sites where abandoned or reused for different purposes. The brief was to transform one of these industrial spaces into a nursery with three specific aims:
1 To reduce the scale of the existing space
2 To create both a continuous open space for common activities, and closed spaces for play areas and special activities.
3 To reduce energy consumption and increase thermal insulation.
